2012 Event Letter
Dear Friends,
This year we will once again be holding our “Gaming to Give” event on November 2, 2012 at the wonderful San Marino Club in Troy. As most of you know I am passionate about helping children, especially those who have been forgotten and abandoned by their own families. Four years ago I was made aware of a place called Covenant House, a program for teens and young adults who were abused and neglected, many of whom were bounced through the foster care system until they eventually aged out and had nowhere to turn. I heard that Covenant House was much like a college campus where these young people lived.
The first time I visited Covenant House Michigan I was literally overwhelmed with emotion. Nestled in the midst of Detroit’s abandoned homes and buildings, was this oasis where kids came to be loved. I met these kids. I saw the smiles on their faces as they walked around the beautiful campus talking and laughing with other kids like themselves. I met the staff who were so devoted and determined to make a difference in these kids’ lives.
Ever since that first visit I have vowed to support Covenant House because I know in my heart they are saving lives and providing these young people with the opportunities all children should be given. So each year we hold our Calling All Angels “Gaming to Give” event to support Covenant House and their Outreach Team that continuously searches and finds more kids in need of shelter and love. And we are forever grateful for those of you who have joined with us on this mission to save the children.
I hope that you will continue to support this event and for those of you who haven’t, I pray that your heart will be led to get involved. But I want you to take it one step further and visit Covenant House with me. I sincerely want you to feel the love and hope that I did four years ago. Please call me at 248-766-3663 so we can visit this wonderful place together. I know you will be changed as I was.
This event is not about how much money we get, but the lives we impact because of it. It takes heart to give hope. Thank you for your compassion and support.

2011 Event Letter
Dear Friends,
For those of you who know me, you are aware that I have been a patient at the Mayo Clinic since before Christmas where I was diagnosed with a rare and sudden disease. I write this letter as I would like to make everyone aware that I am fighting the battle for my health as well as the battle of youth homelessness. I would like you to know that regardless of my circumstances, Calling All Angels and Covenant House are joining
together once again this year. I write this letter to you to share how the darkest hours of my life were soon filled with hope and inspiration…
Like many people who are faced with death, my experience has made me a better person and I have realized even more so what’s most important in this life. My first day here at Mayo, I met with a team of Doctors and residents. This wonderful young doctor (Dr. Jimmy Moss) held my hand and asked me what I did for a living. I told Dr. Jimmy that I ran a charity, my voice was soft and he asked me to repeat myself so I raised my voice as loud as I could and began to tell him about Calling All Angels. I told him that we raise money to help rescue homeless children off the streets. He tightened his grip on me and told me he was homeless from age 12. He told me that if it wasn’t for people like Calling All Angels or places like Covenant House that he would not be where he is today. Let me tell you that there was not a dry eye in my hospital room.
Dr. Jimmy believes our lives crossed paths for a reason and so do I.
I was reminded of the kids at Covenant House who may one day become the next doctors, police officers, mothers, teachers and friends. And what about the thousands of kids on the streets who may never have this opportunity without our help? So I will fight this fight because no matter what happens to me, there will continue to be homeless children that need our help. We need to save them.
So I’m asking that you send a donation to Covenant House in honor of all the children like Dr. Jimmy who deserve love, shelter, education and hope… all found at Covenant House with your support. And for those of you that are able, please sponsor and support our annual event. The event will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 at San Marino Club in Troy. As you know San Marino has been very generous supporters and they allow us to give so much more back to our beloved cause. Last year we raised $53,000 and I know we
will raise even more this year. I have included a sponsorship packet and information about the event. I have also included an envelope so that you can join me in helping Covenant House get the kids off the street and provide them with the love and care they deserve.
Like I said earlier, you are my angels and I’m calling on you to help. Your heart is my hope in our efforts in giving children hope. Thank you for your compassion and support.
